About Belmont Library
Belmont Library has served its Southeast Portland neighborhood since 1924. Some customers remember Belmont's small brick building with its rounded windows and massive oak tables as the neighborhood library of their childhood. The original building was expanded in 1937, with the addition of a children's room. It was renovated again in 1999-2000; the project nearly doubled the library's size. Belmont houses a decorative quilt made by Sunnyside residents. Read more about Belmont Library history.
Multnomah County Library's systemwide catalog — two million books, periodicals, music, movies and more — serves patrons of Belmont and all neighborhood libraries. Belmont patrons also enjoy e-books and downloadable music; research and reading resources; and library events and services, including those especially for kids and teens.
Belmont's meeting room is available at no charge for community meetings and events on a first-come, first-served basis. It has a 24-person capacity.
