About Central Library
Historic Central Library in downtown Portland is the heart of the Multnomah County Library system. First opened in September 1913 and extensively renovated in 1994-97, Central Library houses over 875 tons of books and other library materials. That's more than 17 miles of bookshelves! Central also offers Multnomah County residents some 130 computer search stations.

Special services and features
Central's U.S. Bank Room is available free-of-charge during library hours, on a first-come, first-served basis, for community meetings and events. The room has a 120-person capacity. For more information, visit Public Use of the Meeting Rooms or call 503.988.5234.
