About North Portland Library

North Portland Library began as the North Albina Reading Room in 1909. The current Jacobethan-style library was built in 1913 and renovated in 1999.

North Portland Library boasts a collection of books as well as audio and visual materials, periodicals and electronic resources in English and Spanish that can be accessed on site or from a home computer. North Portland customers have access to Multnomah County Library's systemwide catalog of two million books and other library materials.

This library houses the Black Resource Collection, a special collection of scholarly and popular materials relating to the African-American experience.

Check Event Finder for programs at North Portland Library. North Portland's meeting room is available at no charge for community meetings and events on a first-come, first-served basis. It has an 85-person capacity.
