Services for adults
Library Outreach Services provides recreational reading to inmates of Multnomah County correctional facilities. Materials are also provided to support parenting, mental health, drug and alcohol abuse issues and job readiness. Special programs include:
- Books Without Barriers, a three-session program that teaches inmates about the importance of early literacy. Parents are videotaped reading a book, and the tape is then sent to their child.
- Moving On, a community transition handbook published by the library, is given to each inmate. Moving On is also distributed by Multnomah County sheriffs and several community groups.
