About the exhibit

Portland Open Studios creates a unique educational opportunity for the public to witness the process of art in the making, learn about media and materials, and the business of creative endeavor. Through this interaction, participating artists reveal the complexity of their work and its involvement, relationship and value to the community.

Each year, 100 artists open their studios' doors on the second and third weekends of October for a rare opportunity to peek inside the artists' studios. This year, the studio tours are on October 9, 10, 16 and 17. Twelve of the 100 artists, spanning 11 different mediums, are showing a collection of their work. See work by Jane Levy Campbell, Kindra Crick, Sarah Farahat, Cindy Geffel, Jason Kappus, Carolyne Landon, Jenny Lovold, Dennis McConnell, Doug Richardson, Sara Swink, Shu-Ju Wang and Kelly Williams. Work includes glass, encaustic, oil, watercolor, gouache, ceramic, book arts, collage, drawing, printmaking and photography.
