- Horsetail Falls Trail / Oneonta Trail
-
Historic Columbia River Hwy., just east of Multnomah Falls; in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area [ramble]Oneonta Creek runs through a charming wee gorge and down into the Columbia river at the east end of the dense group of waterfalls along the Historic Columbia River Highway. This mildly energetic 2.7 mile loop trail goes around Oneonta Gorge (see the Forest Service's handy map). It's very up, up, up! at the beginning, but after a lot of huffing and puffing you will be rewarded with amazing views of the Columbia and down into Oneonta Gorge. The trail also brings you to Pony Tail Falls (also known as Upper Horsetail Falls), where you will walk behind the waterfall. It's really not to be missed.
