This charming local history museum is housed in Gresham's old Carnegie Library building. Visitors soak up lots of fascinating facts about Gresham's past, and (at this writing) the museum features an exhibit dedicated to Oregon's first Miss America, Gresham resident Katie Harman! Also check out the Lewis & Clark Discovery Garden that surrounds the museum.

Argay Neighborhood Green Street: N.E. 131st Ave. & N.E. Fremont St. [Gregory Heights]

As you know, it rains a lot in Portland. Where does all the water go? The Argay Green Street one of many installed by the city in recent years to help manage rainwater runoff so it stays sparkling and healthy -- rainwater filters through a gracious street-side planter which beautifies as it cleans! And this green street is the first to incorporate a pedestrian crossing ramp providing safe passage over the plants, gravel, and water.

Built in five days by community members, the Imagination Station is a wonderful place for any child's imagination! There are slides, swings, ramps, ladders and tires for climbing, hiding, hanging and balancing. Or survey the world from one of the turrets atop the huge, wooden fort-like structure. This is a favorite destination for the kids who frequent Fairview Library's storytime.

This storefront museum in Portland's Old Town hosts several temporary exhibits each year. It is the only Jewish museum in the Pacific Northwest, and also houses a library dedicated to documenting the Jewish experience in Oregon.

The Sexual Minority Youth Resource Center, or SMYRC, is a community center for lesbian, trans, gay and bi youth. The group facilitates community action and leadership by sexual minority youth, and offers social events, free mental health counseling, free HIV testing and a wide variety of volunteer and internship opportunities. The community center provides a physical space where sexual minority youth can hang out, learn from and teach their peers and of course just have fun.
