Books about Homeschooling
To find a book on homeschooling, do a subject search in the library catalog on one of the following terms:
- Curriculum Planning
- Education, Preschool
- Education Parent Participation
- Home schooling
- Tutors and Tutoring
Curriculum Support
The library offers subject kits, called Bucket of Books, which offer 24-30 books on a topic, plus a teacher's guide and webliography. If you can't find a Bucket of Books on your topic, check our booklist web site. Also check the Homework Center for a collection of annotated website links on your topic. Or you may request a customized booklist or webliography by visiting the School Corps Assignment Alert site.
Early Childhood Resource Centers
Early Childhood Resource Centers are in five Multnomah County Library locations: Hollywood, Hillsdale, Central Children's Library, Holgate, Midland and Gresham. These centers include guides for parent/educators and curriculum bags for use with toddlers and preschoolers. It's in the Bag kits can be placed on hold.
Computer Resources
All Multnomah County Library locations have CD-ROM stations with developmental learning games and programs for exploration and research.
The library also has CD-ROM titles that can be borrowed. CD-ROM titles range from educational software to electronic encyclopedias to fun games.
Word processing and other programs are also available on the Internet computers at Central and all branch libraries.
Sign up for a computer class at branches with computer labs. Learn to use software programs, search the Internet, search the library catalog or make your own Web page. Please check Event Finder to locate classes and times.

- Research: Education offers educational resources for parents and teachers as well as links to education organizations.
- Homeschooling: Organizations offers links to local, state, and national homeschooling organizations.
- Family Guide to the Web helps families explore and make choices on the Internet.
- Homework Center offers educational and homework sites to help kids research a wide range of subjects.
- Kids offers recreational and educational sites for kids along with booklists and reading sites.
