Statues of Henry Huggins and Ribsy
The statue of Henry Huggins, right, now stands near a map that points out locations in Northeast Portland at which the events in the novels "happened." Henry is the hero of a series of books by Beverly Cleary that was first published by Morrow in the early 1950s. They include Henry Huggins, Henry and the Paper Route, Henry and the Clubhouse and Henry and Ribsy.

Henry's dog Ribsy, here seen splashing in the waters of the fountain, stars in his own book, Ribsy, as well as having featured roles in all the other Henry Huggins books. Kids like to come and sit on his back, and dogs being walked in the park come up and sniff his statue, uncertain whether he's real!
