ABOUT ROBERT SABUDA

Robert Sabuda headshotRobert Sabuda grew up in a small rural town in southeastern Michigan and his passion for pop-up began early. "With the ability to hold a crayon came the discovery that I was an artist," says Sabuda, who spent much of his childhood "drawing, painting, cutting and gluing."

When the young artist discovered his first pop-up book in a dentist office waiting room, he never looked back. Sabuda's mother began bringing home file folders from her work, perfect for Sabuda to cut up into pop-up shapes.

This sense of childhood wonder is still reflected in Sabuda's best-selling work.

Sabuda's books, which include -- Wonderful Wizard of Oz: A Commemorative Pop-up (2000); Cookie Count: A Tasty Pop-up (1997); and his latest pop-up treasure Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (2003) -- feature magical visual effects that stimulate the imagination of children and adults alike.

Robert Sabuda currently works in his New York studio that he shares with his partner, children's book creator Matthew Reinhart.
