Kids' Tour of Central Library

Take a look at all the things we have.

Should I get a library card?

Boys looking at books

If you don't have one, you should get one. Library cards are free! All you need to do is fill out a library card form, sign it yourself and have a parent or caregiver sign it, and turn it in at the library. You can get a card and use it right away.

Girls looking at catalog

Check our library catalog for the subjects you're interested in - everything from dinosaurs to dogs to donuts to diesel trucks. Then you can make a stack to check out.

Why should I use the library?

View of Central Library reading room

For over a hundred years, the Multnomah County library has been helping people of all ages find things they want to see, hear and read, and letting them take them home for free. We've been helping students find the information they need for their assignments, and giving them a place they can study and work.

We probably have something you're interested in!

Children checking out books

When you check things out, you'll get a receipt with the date they're due. Hang on to that receipt, and remember to return what you checked out to any Multnomah County library. If the Library's closed, you can put it in the book drop.

See you at the library!

Kids at PCs

We have computers, the Internet, videotapes, DVDs, cassette tapes, CDs, maps, magazines and lots of books. Plus everyone at the library's job is to help you find what you want. We're in 17 locations, all over Multnomah County.

So come and see us!
That's the end, but you can go back to the beginning if you want.
