PORTLAND, OR – Downloadable audiobooks are now available on Multnomah County Library's website through a new service called Library2Go. Library2Go is provided in cooperation with the Oregon Digital Library Consortium, comprised of eight Oregon public libraries who are sharing costs and pooling resources in order to improve service to their customers.

Library customers can download audiobooks to a personal computer or MP3 player from the library's website 24 hours a day. A customer can check out up to four titles at one time and have up to 10 holds in place at one time; if there are no holds on a title, it can be checked out again. The service is free to anyone with a Multnomah County Library card. And the downloaded computer files expire after two weeks, so there is no need to return items and no late fees.

To use audiobooks, library customers must have a valid library card, access to the Internet and free digital book software (available on the Library2Go Web site). Library2Go audiobooks are playable on any computer or device with Windows Media Player software. Please note that Library2Go is not available from computers inside a library, though it is possible to search and view titles.
