PORTLAND, OR Thanks to a generous donation, Central Library will be the new home of a 1992 work of art created by renowned local artist George Johanson.
Great Port City, a 6' x 9' ceramic tile depicting the bridges that span the Willamette River, will be installed in the second floor lobby at Central Library.
The piece will be unveiled by Multnomah County Chair Ted Wheeler and Multnomah County Commissioner Maria Rojo de Steffey on Wednesday, September 19 at noon.
Great Port City was purchased with funds donated to the Regional Arts and Culture Council by Brooks and Dorothy Cofield, who supported Johanson's dream of installing this piece of art at Central Library. The work becomes part of the Multnomah County Public Art Collection, which RACC oversees.
