PORTLAND, OR Rockwood Library will be closed on Tuesday, Sept. 14, for the installation of radio frequency identification gates and new checkout stations. The new equipment will increase staff efficiency, enhance the security of library materials, and, most importantly, make it easier for patrons to use the library.
During the library closure, the book drop will remain open. Materials may be returned at the book drop or at any other Multnomah County library. The nearest libraries are Midland Library (805 S.E. 122nd Ave.) and Fairview-Columbia Library (1520 N.E. Village St., Fairview).
To minimize the impact on library users, no Rockwood items will be due Sept. 14 and no items on Rockwood's hold shelf will expire on Sept. 14.
Please see the library's website for more information about these and other upcoming service improvements.
