Beverly Cleary's neighborhood
Explore "Beverly Cleary's Neighborhood!" Dominating the eastern wall of Hollywood Library, the stone wall map is 27' wide and 12.5' high. Stonemasons have etched neighborhood street names and 17 landmarks into the marble, travertine and limestone that form the map. The dark terra cotta, green, cream and tan are the stone's natural colors.

Beverly Cleary was born in McMinnville, Oregon in 1916, she grew up in the Northeast Portland neighborhood immortalized in many of her books. She also worked briefly as a librarian at Central Library in downtown Portland before moving to California and launching her writing career.
