About the Author

Judy Fong Bates came to Canada as a young girl and grew up above Chinese laundries in several small Ontario towns. She is the author of the short-story collection China Dog: And Other Tales from a Chinese Laundry. Her stories have been broadcast on CBC radio and published in Fireweed: A Feminist Quarterly of Writings, Politics, Art, and Culture, This Magazine, The Canadian Forum, and The Oxford Book of Stories by Canadian Women in English, 1999. She lives in Toronto with her husband and two daughters
