Tears of Joy Theatre: Anansi the Spider

The trickster spider of West Africa is brought to life in two hilarious tales. The first tells how the famous spider won naming rights to a host of animal stories. The second piece, involving a gullible elephant and a melon, is adapted from a tale retold by acclaimed children's author Eric Kimmel.

This original shadow play based on African folktales with marimba, Ghanaian hand drum and thumb piano sound effects. Anansi the spider is clever, witty, foolish and greedy. He loves to eat and hates to work. See what happens when he plays a trick on his whole village.
