Amazing African Animals with the Oregon Zoo
Just because an animal is small doesn't mean it is defenseless. In this presentation, children will see firsthand how some of the smaller creatures of Africa use hair, feathers and scales to avoid becoming someone else's dinner.

Storytime with Baba Wagué Diakité
Growing up, Wagué's grandmother would tell stories in the dark of the night that seemed so real, he felt as though he was one of the elements of the story. Join Wagué, an award-winning author and illustrator, as he reads from his books The Hunterman and the Crocodile and The Magic Gourd and shares stories from his childhood.

Tears of Joy Theatre: Anansi the Spider
The trickster spider of West Africa is brought to life in two hilarious tales. The first tells how the famous spider won naming rights to a host of animal stories. The second piece, involving a gullible elephant and a melon, is adapted from a tale retold by acclaimed children's author Eric Kimmel.

Oregon Shadow Theatre: Anansi the Spider

This original shadow play based on African folktales with marimba, Ghanaian hand drum and thumb piano sound effects. Anansi the spider is clever, witty, foolish and greedy. He loves to eat and hates to work. See what happens when he plays a trick on his whole village.
