Overview
Library2Go is a collection of audiobooks, eBooks, and more that can be downloaded to a variety of devices such as PCs, laptops, eReaders, and mobile devices.
To access the Library2Go collection you will need:
- A valid library card.
- Access to the Internet.
- The free software for the device or computer on which you wish to use your Library2Go items.
- A valid email address so you can be notified when your titles are available for download.
Please note that the Library2Go collection can be enjoyed at home, at work, or when you travel, but is not available for use on the computers in the library.
Step 1: Download/Install Software
Step-by-step instructions on downloading to your specific device can be found at this link to Library2Go’s My Help page.
Kindle users do not need to download any additional software. Items are transferred via your Amazon Account.
Users of other devices will need to download and install the free software that allows you to enjoy the type(s) of materials you are interested in.
- To download audiobooks to your PC or Mac, you will need to download Overdrive Media Console.
- To download ebooks to your PC or Mac, you will need to download Adobe Digital Editions.
- To download audiobooks and ebooks to your mobile devices, you will only need to download the free app, Overdrive Media Console, found at your device’s app store.
Step 2: Register Your Free Software
After you have installed the software that you downloaded, you need to take steps to activate the software before downloading digital materials. For downloadable ebooks, the first time you open Adobe Digital Editions, you will be prompted by the Setup Assistant to activate your computer.
Use this link for instructions on creating an Adobe ID and activation.
For downloadable audio books, OverDrive Media Console for Windows requires a security upgrade. The first time that Windows Media Player attempts to open a DRM-protected file, it will alert you that a security upgrade must be performed before the file can be opened. The upgrade takes just a few moments.
Step 3: Check Out and Enjoy OverDrive digital media

When you locate a title of interest, simply add it to your cart and check out the title. If the desired item is not available, you may place a hold on the title. Patrons have lending period options to choose from for the different media types. Patrons can have a total of 6 items checked out at once.
If you place a hold on a title, you have 3 days to check out the item after an email is sent out notifying you that it is available, or the item is made available to the next patron. You may have a maximum of 6 items on your waiting list.
When placing a hold or checking out a title, you will be required to choose your library system (Multnomah County Library) and enter your full library card number.
Once you have checked out the item, a download page will be displayed. Click the link to download your file. Once the download is complete, you can close your Internet connection and enjoy your item offline.
