Laptops to borrow

All libraries currently have laptops that can be borrowed with your Multnomah County Library card and used within the library for two hours. Cardholders ages 18 and older who have a library account in good standing and photo identification may borrow laptops. Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis. They cannot be reserved ahead of time.

The Community Chromebooks program, funded by the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission with funds provided by Comcast, provides about 175 laptops across the system.

Computers for children

Every library has computers reserved for children. These computers direct children to the library's Kids section and offer educational, entertaining software titles that teach reading, math and other skills. Unless a parent or guardian designates otherwise, kids 12 and younger have filtered Internet access and teens have unfiltered Internet access; learn more.

Adaptive technology

The library offers at least one adaptive technology computer at most libraries. In addition to the services on regular library computers, these computers have ZoomText (screen magnification software), JAWS for Windows (screen-reading software), QuickLaunch (hotkey software that launches ZoomText and JAWS) and headphones.
