Lifelong Learning Center

The Lifelong Learning Center provides free assistance for adults who want to improve their English, develop their reading and writing skills, or work toward their GEDs. The center offers resources for learners and materials for their tutors. It also helps coordinate literacy services in Multnomah County and connects students with volunteer tutors. Multnomah County Library provides the Lifelong Learning Center in cooperation with local colleges.

Services for adult learners

These services are available at Rockwood Library. Books and study aids are also available upon request from all other Multnomah County libraries.

Are you interested in volunteering?

Would you like to help an adult learn to read, speak English, improve math skills, or earn a GED? Volunteers are always welcome at both centers. Volunteer tutors receive training, as well as an orientation and advice on materials to use. Most volunteers tutor adult students a minimum of two hours per week. Literacy coordination

Part-time literacy coordinators work at the centers to:

Multnomah County Library provides coordinator services in cooperation with funding and support from Mt. Hood and Portland Community colleges and the Office of Community College Services Adult Education Department.
