Are you interested in volunteering?
Would you like to help an adult learn to read, speak English, improve math skills, or earn a GED? Volunteers are always welcome at both centers. Volunteer tutors receive training, as well as an orientation and advice on materials to use. Most volunteers tutor adult students a minimum of two hours per week. For more information or to volunteer, call 503.988.5461 or complete this online form.
Literacy coordination
Part-time literacy coordinators work at the centers to:
- Interview new adult learners
- Refer learners to appropriate classes
- Match learners with tutors
- Recommend materials for independent study
- Guide and advise tutors
Multnomah County Library provides coordinator services in cooperation with funding and support from Mt. Hood and Portland Community colleges and the Office of Community College Services Adult Education Department.
