Telephone services
Renew books or get answers to quick questions over the telephone during regular library business hours.

This service provides Multnomah County Library patrons with quick answers to questions on a variety of topics over the telephone. Please limit questions to three per call. Some questions require more research time than staff is able to provide, and you may need to come to the library to do in-depth research.
This service is available during Central Library's regular business hours by calling 503.988.5234 or the TTY at 503.988.5246.

For your convenience, most library materials that have not been requested by others can be renewed over the telephone by calling the library's Renewal Line at 503.988.5342 or the TTY at 503.988.5246. Please have your library card ready when you call.
Automated service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Renewal Line is staffed during Central Library's regular business hours.
Language Line
You may communicate with library employees in languages other than English by using Language Line. This AT&T service provides a team of interpreters that can interpret a conversation between a library customer and employee. You may request this telephone service when you call or visit the library.
TTY (Telecommunications for the deaf)
Multnomah County Library provides 24-hour access to all telephone services through our TTY number at 503.988.5246, although questions or requests will be answered during Central Library's regular business hours.
