Volunteer for the Summer Reading Team

Recruiting Volunteers April 1 - June 1 2008
Summer Reading volunteers register children, award prizes, talk with kids about the books they have read, help with events and record keeping. Teens and adults are invited to apply to join our team of volunteers as Summer Reading assistants.
Is becoming a Summer Reading assistant for me?
- Are you able to commit to a 2 hour weekly shift during June, July and August?
- Will you be gone for 2 weeks or less during the summer?
- Are you 10 years of age or older?
- Are you dependable?
- Do you enjoy working and talking with children, teens and adults?
- Are you able to read and write legibly?
If you answered "yes" to these questions, then sign up to join our Summer Reading team!
Where will I volunteer?
All 17 neighborhood libraries use Summer Reading assistants to help with Summer Reading.
When you fill out the volunteer application, indicate the library location where you would like to volunteer.
How do I join the team?
- Step 1: Fill out an application at your library or apply online.
- Step 2: Turn in the application to Volunteer Services or at your neighborhood library
- Step 3: Register for an informational volunteer meeting.
- Step 4: Once accepted as a volunteer, attend Summer Reading assistant training.
- Step 5: Set a schedule with a library location and begin volunteering.
