Grades 9-12 Poetry Runner Up: "Reunion" by Anais Liston
watching you play piano I can almost see it again. Your hands, then young, they played music like a dream. We where friends, and you warned me not to, but I said yes when he asked me to dance. Spinning spinning spinning faster and faster we went and even though you didn't want to, you played for us. I was blind. as we danced, me and him, he told me that he loved me. I can only blame my self, I loved him. And now, when ever you play piano I come and watch, then whisper those words I never said, I love you but you do not hear me, can not hear me, or see me in any thing but memory. Over the years you grew old, but I have stayed just how you last saw me, young, and pretty. After what happened you never seemed quite happy 'Why' I asked you once, and though you could not hear me you looked up you looked so sad, almost lost 'Because' you said 'I loved you.'
